(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The family of Bahraini youth Younes Alhamad called for his immediate release after the 21-year-old surfaced in Bahrain’s Dry Dock Detention Center on Wednesday.
Alhamad spent nearly a month in the custody of Manama’s security services following his arrest at the Bahrain International Airport on May 3.
During that time he was reportedly held and interrogated at the Criminal Investigation Directorate. And although he was able to contact his family by telephone, they were not permitted to see him.
According to activists, Alhamad is now being ordered to serve a 2-year prison sentence that he received in absentia. It is not clear what exactly Alhamad was charged with.
