(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahraini ophthalmologist and human rights activist Dr. Saeed al-Samahiji was placed under arrest on Tuesday after Manama’s appeals court upheld a one-month prison sentence against him.
He was convicted of insulting a police officer and ordered to begin serving his sentence immediately.
Al-Samahiji spent years behind bars for extending his medical services to treat injured pro-democracy protests and speaking out against Manama’s abuses.
The latest arrest comes as Manama continues to sharpen its clampdown on all forms of dissent.
