(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahrainis have defied a ban on May Day rallies in the Gulf kingdom, taking to the streets in a show of solidarity with the thousands of workers who were unjustly fired from their jobs.
On Tuesday, peaceful marches were reported in a number of towns and villages including Abu Saiba, Al Daih, and Ma’ameer.
Earlier, Bahrain’s opposition Al-Wefaq party reported that over 4,000 were forced out of their jobs in recent years in retaliation for their political views and sectarian backgrounds.
Rights groups have called on Manama to rehire or compensate those dismissed from their jobs without proper cause.
