Christian Pastor: How govt prosecute Sheikh Zakzaky, when itself disobeyed laws

Pastor Yohanna Buru, the Kaduna-based Christian cleric has knocked the Nigerian government over what he called injustice and disrespect for the rule of law.

KADUNA, Nigeria (AhlulBayt News Agency) - Pastor Yohanna Buru, the Kaduna-based Christian cleric has knocked the Nigerian government over what he called injustice and disrespect for the rule of law.

The Cleric and Human rights activist was reacting to the news that government has charged the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky to court on an eight count charges including that of alleged culpable homicide.

“The government that doesn’t respect the rule of law can’t use the same laws,” Buru said.

According to the Pastor, with which laws will the government prosecute the Sheikh?” Adding that “how will they head to the same courts that they disobeyed, then tell them, ‘you see we disobeyed your judgement, just sentence this man for us’, and expect to be taken seriously?”

Pastor Buru implored the government to have the fear of God in their actions for once. “They must do justice to all manners of people, irrespective of differences according to their oath of office.”

He reminded the government that the World is watching. He called on members of the public not to allow government play with their intelligence.
