Pakistan: Two Shia Muslims shot dead in Quetta terrorist attack / Pics

Two people belonging to the Hazara Shia Muslim community were shot martyred by unidentified gunmen in the provincial capital on Saturday.

QUETTA, Pakistan (AhlulBayt News Agency) - Two people belonging to the Hazara Shia Muslim community were shot martyred by unidentified gunmen in the provincial capital on Saturday.

The assailants opened fire at an electronics shop situated on the Jamaluddin Afghani road and fled the scene of the incident. The two Shia men identified as Jafarullah Ghulam Ali and Mohammad Ali Wali Khan Ali were shifted to the hospital and were pronounced dead on arrival by the medical staff.

Police and security forces reached the scene of the incident and started their investigation into the attack.

Earlier this month, a targeted attack in Quetta that killed one Shia and injured another, fomented a protest by the Shia community. The protestors denounced government’s failure to provide security to Balochistan’s marginalised community.

Two Shia Muslim men, one of them identified as Nazar, were traveling from Marriabad to Hazara Town on Sunday when unknown assailants on foot opened fire on their vehicle near the Kandahari Bazaar.

The community has asked government to prove its seriousness in the security matters pertaining to the ethnic group.

A report by the National Commission of Human Rights (NCHR) released last month claimed that 509 Hazara Shia Muslims were killed in various incidents of terrorism in Quetta in the last five years.
