Nabeel Rajab, his cellmates denied access to drinking water: BCHR

The BCHR reported on Thursday that Rajab and his cellmates have been denied drinking water for the past 24 hours by the authorities at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) voiced its concern over the ill-treatment of its founder and jailed Bahraini activist Nabeel Rajab.

The BCHR reported on Thursday that Rajab and his cellmates have been denied drinking water for the past 24 hours by the authorities at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison.

The group also said in a Tweet that the detainees are being subjected to 23-hour lockdowns and are prevented from accessing reading materials.

Rajab was slapped with a 5-year prison sentence in February after being convicted for posting critical tweets of the Saudi-led war in Yemen and Manama’s treatment of prisoners.

At the time of his conviction, he was already serving a 2-year sentence over television interviews and faces additional charges for op-eds published in the New York Times.
