(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Global Protests are being planned next week, on 15 April 2018, to coincide with a hundred days of continuous Free Zakzaky protests in Nigeria demanding the immediate release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.
The protests is expected to simultaneously hold in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa among other places.
One form of protest or the other has become virtually a daily occurrence in Nigeria, especially in the nation’s capital, Abuja since the start of this year when news filtered through about the ailing health situation of the Sheikh.
It emerged that he had suffered a mild stroke in detention, in addition to nursing fatal injuries inflicted on him by the rampaging soldiers almost Twenty eight months ago, for which medical care has been suboptimal. Consequently, the Sheikh has lost an eye and is at a great risk of losing the other eye if immediate measures are not provided.
More than a year ago, a Nigerian Federal High Court had ruled that his detention is unconstitutional, illegal and a breach of his fundamental rights and therefore ordered his immediate release. However, the President Buhari-led government has defiantly held on to him without charges and has denied him medical or legal access, with only a very restrictive and limited family visit.
Daily Sit Out demanding for his release being undertaken by a congremerolation of groups led by the Concerned Nigerians in conjunction with the Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee is in its nearly ninetieth day and is complemented by incessant large street actions demanding for the release of the Sheikh.
