According to Ahlul Bayt News Agency – ABNA – the director of Al-Zahra University, on the verge of “Qom’s Cultural Week in Lebanon”, said, “in this age which is rightly called the age of communication, we have to use every instrument possible to increase communication and exchange of information and culture”.
Hujjat al-IslamSayyed Mahmoud Madani added, “one of the instruments to communicate among cultures is holding exhibitions and cultural weeks. We hope that Qom’s Cultural Week in Lebanon will be a starting point for Qom to be present in Lebanon, as a center for Shiite Islam, both culturally and economically. This first step has to be taken very firmly though.
Speaking on the importance of the Week, he said, “today, cultural and economic war is deemed very important internationally. I use the term war because it is a real war. If not fully prepared, all the opportunities will turn into threats for us, therefore wherever there is a furnished ground for Iran’s cultural and economic presence, we must be present in full force so as not to let others to take the opportunities away from us”.
Answering the question that what will be the benefits of the Week for both parties, he explained, “Lebanon once was the cultural center of the Arab world and it is still so to some extent. Iran’s as the origin of the Islamic Republic, leads the top discourse. Thus there can be a great cultural exchange between the two countries”.
“Qom has many secret capacities which unfortunately have not been introduced. Qom is outstanding in terms of culture, science, seminary schools and universities, and economy. This Week can be a great step forward as Lebanon will use these capacities”.
Speaking on the levels and areas in which the Al-Zahraa University will be present, he said, “Al-zahra University as the largest Seminary School for women will be present in the Week presenting it’s background, fields of study, students, and capacities. Also, our academic section will be present, enrolling foreign students and presenting in capacities in exchange students.
“also, those who have been in touch with the university in the past, or are graduates from the university, will hold a conference in this week-long event”, he added.
Commenting on the event and proposing suggestions for the betterment of the event, he said, “as one who has been internationally active and has lived abroad for years as Supreme Leader’s representative, I believe that we have to consider our advantages. What we present has to consider this advantage. For example, in terms of culture, we must present our top products. In terms of economy, we must present our organic products which benefit from the long sunshine in the city as opposed to products from Europe which lack that advantage”.
It is noteworthy that Qom’s Cultural Week in Lebanon will be held on April 14th to 21st in Nabtieh, Lebanon, by the aid of Qom Governerate, Iran’s Cultural Advisor in Lebanon and other institutions including Ahlul Bayt World Assembly.
