(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society expressed solidarity with the Palestinian cause and reiterated its support for the ‘oppressed’ Palestinian people on the occasion of Land Day.
Land Day commemorates Tel Aviv’s decision to expropriate massive tracts of Palestinian land in 1976 and the subsequent killing of Palestinians that protested against the decision.
In a statement released on Friday, the Bahraini opposition movement called for the right of return for Palestinian refugees and applauded the Palestinian people’s defense of their land.
The group also categorically rejected all efforts aimed at normalizing ties between Tel Aviv and Arab states.
In recent months, a number of Arab monarchies in the Persian Gulf, including Bahrain, have been cozying up to the Israelis, leading to speculation that the two sides may soon be establishing official diplomatic ties.
