(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The 6th European Quran Competition kicked off in a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany, on Friday.
The ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Iranian Qari Rahim Khaki.
Khaki is also a member of the contest’s panel of judges.
The Islamic Centre Hamburg is hosting the Quranic event, which will run until Sunday.
The contenders are Quran activists from different European countries.
The compete in two age groups of 16 years and below and older than 16.
The categories of the contest include Quran recitation, memorization, Quranic concepts and Adhan (call to prayers).
The center annually organizes the contest to promote Quranic activities and identify Quranic talents among European Muslims.
