(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Manama has released Bahraini Shiite cleric Sayyed Adnan al-Sayed Hashim after subjecting him to over three weeks of incommunicado detention.
Sayyed Hashim returned to his home in Diraz on Saturday from where he was arrested after heavily armed security forces stormed his home in the early hours of January 23.
The authorities failed to provide any legal justification for the arrest or charge the cleric with any wrongdoing.
Sayyed Hashim’s arrest was part of extensive police raids that saw dozens of people detained in a matter of hours.
Earlier this month, Diraz residents voiced their concern over the fate of those arrested, alleging that they were tortured by the security services.
