(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Amnesty International is calling on its supporters to “mobilize quickly and effectively” to secure the release of Bahraini human rights defender Nabeel Rajab.
The rights group is asking that emails be sent to the Bahraini monarch Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, demanding that Rajab be freed “immediately and unconditionally”.
Amnesty also wants all charges against Rajab dropped “as he is a prisoner of conscience, detained solely for peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression.”
The jailed Bahraini activist, who is already serving a 2-year prison sentence over TV interviews, is expecting a verdict in a separate case on February 21.
If found guilty he faces an additional 15 years in prison for merely tweeting about the war on Yemen and allegations of torture in Bahrain’s Jaw prison.
