(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Manama is yet to release any details regarding the location, charges, and physical well-being of Shiite cleric Sayyed Adnan al-Sayed Hashim following nearly two weeks since his arrest.
The cleric was taken into custody by Bahrain’s security forces in the early hours of January 23 in the country’s northwestern village of Diraz.
He was last seen being led away in handcuffs after the heavily armed security forces stormed his home.
The arrest was part of extensive police raids carried out on the same day that saw dozens of Bahrainis detained.
Manama’s security forces have arrested thousands in recent years, including scores of Shiite clerics and often without proper cause. Many of those arrested are routinely subjected to torture in detention.
