Pres. Rouhani: Iran has been civilisation before, after Islam

Dr Hassan Rouhani attended the Conference on Modernisation of Public Transport and Job Creation on Monday and said: "Welfare and air pollution come with industrialisation, but the environment and people's health must be a top priority".

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - President Rouhani described the development of public transport and traffic control as a major factor in improving the environment, emphasising that the plan of modernising the public transport fleet is a major step by the government in improving the environment.

Dr Hassan Rouhani attended the Conference on Modernisation of Public Transport and Job Creation on Monday and said: "Welfare and air pollution come with industrialisation, but the environment and people's health must be a top priority".

Stating that worn out vehicles should be completely abolished, said: "To replace scrapped vehicles, we also need to pay attention to the environment in addition to saving energy".

"Fajr celebration is a very happy event for the entire Iranian nation," he added, saying: "All regional and global powers wanted to stop Imam Khomeini's (RA) movement but they did not succeed".

The President also went on to say: "Not only the Shah's regime, but also all powers were standing up to the wish of the people".

"Imam Khomeini's simple promotion methods won over suppression and flower replaced bullet", he said, adding that the enemies are still seeking to revenge the Iranian nation

Dr Rouhani added: "Iranians have been the best preacher of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and Islamic sciences".

Stating that development of public transport and controlling vehicles' access can improve the environment, he continued: "We need to take swifter actions against the large flow of pollutants".

He also went on to say: "To replace the scrapped cars, we pay attention to saving energy in addition to the environment".

By increasing production and quality, we can be an exporter of lorries in the region, the President said, adding: "In the process of vehicle replacement, half of the price will be paid by the Ministry of Petroleum from saving fuel".

Highlighting that the 12th Administration will replace old vehicles more determined than future, the President also said: "In modernisation of public transport fleet, older vehicles must be prioritised".
