Pres. Rouhani: Iranians led Islamic Revolution, Holy Defence only by relying on God

President Dr Hassan Rouhani appeared in the opening ceremony of 10 cultural centres and Holy Defence museums in capital cities of 10 provinces on Sunday and said: "Standing up to the aggressors is not limited to the 8-year Holy Defence".

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - President Rouhani described the Islamic Revolution a unique event in the history of the region and the world, saying: "Defending the national honour and the independence of our country is everybody's duty".

President Dr Hassan Rouhani appeared in the opening ceremony of 10 cultural centres and Holy Defence museums in capital cities of 10 provinces on Sunday and said: "Standing up to the aggressors is not limited to the 8-year Holy Defence".

Stressing that political power and defence power are complementary to each other, the President also said: " The armed forces, the government, the branches, seminaries and people must stand together to make national power happen".

Saying that standing up to the aggressors is not limited to the 8-year Holy Defence, the President also added: "The United Nations, the countries of the region and even some of our friend countries were silent against the aggressors".

"Defence software are more effective than hardware", he said, adding: "The legitimacy of defence was the most important software power of the Imposed War".

Dr Rouhani also went on to say: "Trust in the leadership, authorities and the commanders of the war was the second software power; people were willingly sending their children to the battlefield ".

"During the war, Imam [Khomeini] said that the parliament is not a place to summon commanders but it must support them," continued the President, adding that during the Holy Defence era, popular trust was growing day by day.

He also said: "The supporters of Saddam Hussein, both in the region and the West, admitted that they were supporting the invader".

Stating that emphasis was on air defence during the war to protect oil export, Dr Rouhani said: "The Holy Defence had a lot of lessons for us; the families of the martyrs and veterans are our teachers".

"If there it were not for jihad against the aggression and tyranny, nothing would be left of Islam," said the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He also added: "The Americans blatantly threaten others with modern atomic bombs and yet they speak of peace".

Emphasising that "until the day there is threat against us, we must increase our defence power", Dr Rouhani said: "Because of the Supreme Leader's fatwa, morality and international regulations, we are not seeking weapons of mass destruction".

The President then went on to state that Holy Defence museums must increase people's integrity and national spirit.

"I appreciate the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, General Bagheri, the armed forces and General Kaargar for promoting the culture of devotion and martyrdom," he continued, saying that national power must increase and defence power is a part of that.
