Bahraini opposition figure briefly transferred to military hospital

In a series of tweets, Mushaima’s family explained that they did not know if the opposition leader had undergone any medical procedures or received any treatment.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The family of jailed Bahraini opposition figure Hassan Mushaima learned that he was briefly transferred to a military hospital on Thursday before being returned to Bahrain’s Jaw Prison.

In a series of tweets, Mushaima’s family explained that they did not know if the opposition leader had undergone any medical procedures or received any treatment.

Earlier, Amnesty International had called on Manama to grant Mushaima “access to adequate healthcare, including prescribed medication and regular check-ups, unhindered by unnecessary and degrading prison practices.”

The 70-year old, who served as the secretary-general of the opposition Haq Movement before being sentenced to life in prison, is a cancer survivor and suffers from multiple health problems including diabetes.

His family has repeatedly voiced concern over his deteriorating health.
