(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Islamic center of Boston, Wayland, Massachusetts has opened its doors to welcome homeless people suffering cold weather in the streets.
The initiative, reported by wcvb.com, comes as several organizations are stepping up to keep people warm from the bitter cold.
Along with offering shelter, the mosque offered a hot meal to the homeless, as part of several efforts taken by Muslims in the west to support the needy.
On Saturday, Islamic Relief Canada launched a national appeal to help the homeless during the winter season.
As temperatures dip to -35 in parts of the country over the weekend, the international charity will be partnering up with local organizations in five cities to launch an emergency winter response to deliver winter kits to those living on the streets and in shelters.
