In the Name of God
When a grand scholar among believers dies, there will be a great loss for Islam which cannot be recovered by any means.
We were deeply saddened to hear that Hujjatul-Islam Syed Ali Taqvi, a member of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly’s Supreme Council, passed away after long years of promoting the teachings of Islam, the holy Qur'an, and the Ahlulbayt school of thought.
He was a grand Shia scholar who had studied the exalted teachings of the Ahlulbayt school of thought in Islamic seminaries of Lucknow and Najaf. He was a source for many religious, intellectual, cultural and social services in India.
Many students benefited from his scholarly activities and books at the Indian schools of Islamic theology, the Council of Islamic Jurisprudents in Allah Abad, and Lucknow University.
As a members of the Supreme Council of the Ahlulbayt World Assembly, the late Maulana Syed Ali Taqvi also shared the extensive activities and projects of this organization to promote the status of Shiites throughout the world.
He, who had been accompanying the Islamic Revolution since the beginning of Imam Khomeini's movement, remained faithful to Imam Khomeini’s great aspirations until the last second of his life. He was also a representative of Ayatollah Khamenei and other Grand Ayatollahs in India and spent his blessed life to serve Islam and Muslims.
Undoubtedly, his good deeds will be of great help to him on the Day of Resurrection, as we read in the Holy Quran: “And those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord shall be conveyed to the garden in companies; until when they come to it, and its doors shall be opened, and the keepers of it shall say to them: Peace be on you, you shall be happy; therefore enter it to abide.”
(Surah Al-Zumar: Verse 73)
On this sad occasion and irreparable loss, we extend our deep condolences to the Imam of Age, peace be upon him, and then to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic
Revolution, to the great religious authorities, and to all Shia Muslim, Islamic seminaries and the community of Shiah clerics in India. We also express our sympathy with his family members, friends and pupils.
At the end, we beseech Allah, the Almighty, to bestow patience and abundant rewards upon his close relatives, particularly his noble son Hujjatul-Islam Syed Mohsen Taqvi.
May his soul rest in peace!
“We all belong to Allah; and to Him we shall surely return.”
