Rajab appeared in court for Thursday’s hearing, which was also attended by foreign diplomats from the US Embassy in Bahrain as well as other European embassies.
Rajab who was sentenced to 2 years in prison back in July faces an additional 15 years behind bars over tweets criticizing the Saudi-led bombardment of Yemen and Manama’s use of torture.
The court originally scheduled the hearing for December 31. But the proceedings were brought forward to this week after the court claimed that a witness in the case was traveling on the original trial date
