Speaking on the eve of Friday prayers, Sayyed Al-Ghoraifi described the Ayatollah as a “major guarantor of the country’s security and stability”.
Ayatollah Qassim’s health deteriorated on Sunday, and a medical examiner later concluded that he needed to be transferred to hospital.
“It is our responsibility, government and people, to provide His Eminence with all the care,” Sayyed Al-Ghoraifi said.
Ayatollah Qassim – Bahrain’s highest religious authority – was arbitrarily stripped of his nationality in June 2016. Since then, he has lived under virtual ‘siege’ in Bahrain’s northwestern village of Diraz.
