Al-Wefaq condemns Friday’s carnage in Egyptian mosque

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society condemned Friday’s bomb and gun attack on a mosque in the Egyptian northern Sinai Peninsula, which killed at least 305 people.

The terrorist attack, which is among the bloodiest in Egypt’s history, targeted a mosque frequented by Sufis in the town of Bir al-Abed.

ISIS terror group have claimed previous attacks in the region.

According to Al-Wefaq, the attacks are motivated by hostility towards the Islamic faith and the distortion of its reputation.

In a statement released shortly after the attack, Al Wefaq attributed the bloodshed to a very serious intellectual anomaly, which is financed and supported by certain political systems. The group also accused some of the regimes in the region of manipulating, recruiting and providing cover for terrorists.

Al-Wefaq expressed its deepest condolences to the Egyptian people and reaffirmed its support for security and stability in Egypt.
