Bahraini security forces fire barrage of teargas to disperse peaceful protesters

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The northeastern Bahraini village of Ma’ameer resembled a warzone on Tuesday night as the country’s security forces fired a barrage of teargas and rubber bullets at anti-regime protesters.

The demonstrations were organized in a show of solidarity with the thousands of political prisoners in the kingdom. Some of the protesters carried portraits of the most prominent prisoners of conscience, demanding their immediate release.

Similar incidents were reported in other parts of the country.

In the western village of Dumistan, security forces flooded the streets with teargas as residents rallied in a show of support for Bahrain’s highest religious authority, Sheikh Isa Qassim.

Meanwhile, in Al Daih locals took part in a commemorative march for one of the victims of Manama’s security forces. The protesters demanded justice and for those responsible to be held to account.

Demonstrations are held across Bahrain on an almost daily basis over Manama’s abuses and an intensifying clampdown on all forms of dissent.
