He made the remarks during a meeting with ambassador of Iran Mehdi Honardoost on Thursday at Prime Minister House in Islamabad.
On this occasion, he described the meeting with President of Iran Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York as important and constructive.
He emphasized on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Islamabad and Tehran. The prime minister also appreciated the strong commitment of the Iranian leaders to strengthen ties with Pakistan.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that Pakistan is determined to monitor border with Iran, increase security and enhance cooperation in fight terrorist elements.
He said that the deployment of more Pakistani troops on the border will ensure peace and stability in the area and would end the activities of terrorists on border region.
During the meeting, Iranian ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Iranian leaders to the prime minister and emphasized the importance that Iran attaches to its relations with Pakistan.
He reiterated his commitment to further enhance Iran-Pakistan bilateral relations with a focus on economic relations between the two countries. He said that Iran is keen to further expand bilateral relations with Pakistan in all spheres.
Referring to 35% increase in the trade volume of the two countries, he said that Pakistan-Iran ties provide favorable environment to enhance the level of trade volume up to $5bn.
The Iranian ambassador also emphasized the removal obstacles in both banking and financial sectors between the two countries.
