The 69-year old is reportedly being prevented from attending a previously scheduled doctor’s appointment, during which he is meant to receive his periodic cancer screening.
According to his family, he requires a PET scan every six months. Mushaima, who served as the secretary-general of the Haq Movement, is currently in remission for lymphoma cancer.
He was designated as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International after being sentenced to life in prison over charges stemming from his calls for democratic reforms in Bahrain.
