“We commend the people’s sincere readiness to attend … major processions in the capital and all the regions, as well as the readiness of the honorable people of Diraz and its faithful youth to support Shikeh Isa Qassim,” the scholars said in a statement issued on Sunday.
Tens of thousands of Bahrainis took part in Ashura processions across the kingdom. Ashura commemorates the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussein.
“We, in Bahrain, designate our entire political movement to reform, justice, dignity …. to support the cause of Imam Hussein and the principles of Islam so that religion transcends in this good country and thus preserves the homeland, security and peace, and every human enjoys his rights and dignity,” the statement added.
