Hassan Mohammadi, the secretary of the Strategic Council for Arbaeen Quranic Activities, told IQNA that the programs will be organized as part of the Quranic Besharat (good news) 1451 plan.
The plan features Quranic activities marking the 1451st year since the revelation of the Holy Quran.
It includes recitation, memorization and elaboration on the concepts and teachings of two Surahs of the Holy Quran, Surah al-Mulk and Surah al-Waqea.
He said the Quranic sessions will be held on the path of Arbaeen pilgrims from Iranian cities to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq.
According to the official, senior Iranian Qaris and memorizers as well as Tawasheeh (religious singing) programs) will also hold Quranic programs for pilgrims in Arbaeen.
Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).
Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites. Many of them also visit Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine in Najaf.
In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world, including Iran, took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy cities marking Arbaeen.
This year, Arbaeen falls on Thursday, November 9.
