Radhi Al-Mousawi was summoned by Bahrain’s public prosecutor just days after being banned from leaving the country on September 3.
According to activists, summonses and travel bans are designed to curtail the freedom of movement and activities of Bahrain’s activists during international rights forums.
Al-Mousawi’s summons comes on the same day as the 36th session of the UN Human Rights Council gets underway in Geneva.
The opposition figure was also banned from traveling in April of last year following allegations that he took part in ‘illegal protests’ in Diraz.
