She has been ordered to appear before the Public Prosecutor at 10 AM on Wednesday. As is often the case when it comes to the interrogations of Bahraini activists, there have been no allegations of any wrongdoing made against Al Khamees.
Prior to receiving the summons, Al Khamees’ home was surrounded by security forces.
In recent months, Manama has intensified its calculated campaign to persecute human rights activists and political opponents, resorting to the systematic use of torture and arbitrary detention.
Since June, the regime has jailed countless human rights defenders including Ebtisam Al-Sayegh, who later revealed that she was sexually assaulted and tortured while in the custody of the security services.
