President Rouhani: Any move by US to impose sanctions to be responded by Iranian nation

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - President Rouhani said that the 12th Administration will be a non-partisan one, adding: "The way of thinking that people voted for must be the top priority and an example for administrative organs around the country".

Speaking in a cabinet session on Wednesday, Dr Rouhani referred to US' incorrect behaviour towards its international commitments and said: "Every country's greatness and political position in the world is related to how other trust them and the way they respect their commitments".

The US is getting out of many of its commitments in the new term, said Rouhani adding: "Americans have withdrawn from Paris Agreement, agreements with Cuba and many other commitments in their agreements with North America and East Asia. This indicates that the US cannot claim advocacy for human rights, rule of law and security and stability in the world".

"One who is not stable, does not respect the law and regulations and does not stand by its own signature, cannot invite others to stability, security and peace," the President said.

Dr Rouhani also stated that the US presence in the region has intensified discords and disagreements, saying: "They could not do anything special against terrorists and bring back stability to the region, but rather it was the Iraqi and Syrian people, the neighbouring countries and their devoted warriors who helped these oppressed people, saving the region from terrorism".

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been -and will be- committed to its commitments, said Rouhani adding: "Iran will always stand by its international commitments, although Americans are giving with one hand and taking away with the other".

"On the one hand, their congress officially reports that Iran has been fully committed to its commitments and therefore they have no choice but to respect the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and they cannot violate it. On the other hand, they are after imposing new sanctions which is not compatible with the letter and spirit of the JCPOA," continued the President.

He also went on to say: "We must be vigilant not to get caught in their trap, not playing in US' side of the pitch and at the same time live up to our commitments, walking on the path of progress".

"Today, the Americans are angry about the post-JCPOA atmosphere and are concerned about Iran's better economic relations with Asia and Europe. Of course it is natural that they are angry about this because they are not gaining any profit from this," Dr Rouhani continued.

He also said: "We are happy that our allies in 5+1 have stood by the JCPOA, protecting it so far and that Americans have acted equivocally like always, but certainly, if Americans want to impose sanctions against us under any condition and pretext, the great Iranian nation will respond accordingly and the Islamic Consultative Assembly will also pass bills".

The President also said: "We will not pass over US' violations of the JCPOA and we will stand against them, but at the same time, we are alert as to how to make the best use of the atmosphere".

"The Iranian nation did a great job in the nuclear agreement with the Supreme Leader's guidance and their support, defending their rights," Dr Rouhani added.

He also said: "The Iranian nation succeeded in cancelling unjust resolutions of the Security Council and those by the Board of Governors, resolving the PMD case and sanctions related to weapons".

Stressing that the entire Iranian nation must be united to serve national interests, the President continued: "Iranian people did a great job and today, there is a good atmosphere for us and the authorities must take advantage of this atmosphere".

Saying that the 12th Administration will be non-partisan, President Rouhani added: "The administration will work closely with other branches; we have no time for marginal issues".

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said that that the new administration will prioritise employment and production.
