The conference was held at the European Parliament in Brussels on June 20.
Hojat-ol-Islam Salehi Khansari said that in an address to the conference, he has underlined Islam’s stance on condemning terrorism and violence.
He said he has stressed that shedding the blood of innocent people, no matter whether it happens in a mosque or in a night club, in Asia, Africa, America or elsewhere, is condemned in view of Islam.
Islam favors freedom of religion, the Shia cleric underscored.
He also said at the conference that extremists, including the ISIS terrorist group, do not belong to any Divine religion even if they act in the name of a religion.
He said that some of the EU parliamentarians attending the conference have hailed the unifying call of Muslim scholars.
