Bahraini activist Nabeel Rajab's trial postponed until June 12

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A criminal court adjourned the trial of prominent Bahraini activist Nabeel Rajab for a second case raised against him until June 12, 2017, while he remains in detention.

The court permitted Rajab's lawyer to meet his client at the Kalaa Hospital, and allowed Rajab to watch DVDs of television interviews on a laptop where he is held.

Bahraini authorities accuse Nabeel Rajab of spreading false news in television interviews with foreign media outlets, during which he discussed human rights violations in Bahrain.

Earlier this month, the jailed Bahraini activist criticized US President Donald Trump in a New York Times column for selling arms to his country and Saudi Arabia, citing of their human rights records.

The column appeared ahead of Trump's recent visit to Saudi Arabia, a supporter of the fellow Anti Shia ruled kingdom of Bahrain as it grapples with continued unrest from its Shi'ite majority.

Both countries have been on an invasion against Yemen for over two years, but it has been with no success despite launching thousands of air strikes.
