In the phone call that was initiated by the Russian part on Saturday, Dr Rouhani also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to develop ties with its neighbours, especially Russia, adding: "Iran is more determined to deepen ties and bilateral and regional cooperation with Russia, and in the near future, we will witness a very closer relations between the two countries".
Appreciating the Russian president for his congratulations and referring to the process of cementing economic relations between the two countries in the recent years, Dr Rouhani said: "This growing process indicates that the two countries are determined to develop relations, especially in economic and trade fields".
"Tehran supports developing cooperation between the two countries in significant infrastructural and cultural projects, as well as energy and banking fields," continued the President.
Stressing that Tehran is committed to its promises in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) until the other side does so, he said: "Russia's cooperation in the implementation phase of the JCPOA and nuclear cooperation between the two countries are welcomed by us and Tehran is ready to operationalise its nuclear agreements with Russia".
He also mentioned trilateral cooperation and also the development of interaction in North-South Corridor and said: "This cooperation must be in accordance with the interests of the nations and also establishment of peace and stability in the region".
Dr Rouhani also talked about Tehran-Moscow relations in the field of strengthening peace and stability and also combatting terrorism, especially in Syria, adding: "Develop this cooperation with Syria is very important and we welcome the continuation of these trilateral cooperation between Iran, Russia and Syria, and we are determined to continue it".
He went on to refer to trilateral interaction between Iran, Turkey and Russia to maintain the UN-led cease-fire in Syria and said: "Some countries' activities, such as those of the new US administration and Saudi Arabia, complicate the issues in the region".
"All countries must be mobilised to begin a real fight against terrorism and establish stability in the region," continued the President.
President Vladimir Putin of Russia congratulated Dr Rouhani on his re-election and said: "The results of the election in Iran indicates that Iranians are clearly and extensively supporting your Excellency's economic and social programmes, as well as your regional and international plans".
He added: "Russia is determined to further deepen its ties with Iran in all fields of mutual interest".
"Tehran-Moscow cooperation in nuclear energy will be developed based on international law and perfect truest between the two countries," continued Putin.
Referring to Syria, he said: "We have always stressed that Iran and Russia's presence in Syria is based on the invitation by the legal government of this country and within the framework of international law and we will continue out cooperation and efforts to strengthen peace and stability in the region and Syria".
