President Rouhani: We won't ask for anybody's permission for manufacturing missiles, fighter jets

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - We will not ask for anybody's permission for manufacturing missiles and fighter jets, said President Rouhani at the ceremony of unveiling defence industry achievements, adding: "Defence industry's great achievements indicate the government's special attention to the field".

At the ceremony that was held on Saturday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani added: "The world powers' interference and the cancerous tumour of Israel have always been the origin of threat to the security and stability of the Middle East".

Stating that regional balance and maintaining the deterrent power are essential, he said: "We have never thought about aggression but the road to peace is not a one-way road".

"If it were not for our resistance in the Sacred Defence and we would look to the United Nations for doing something, the enemy would reach Tehran," continued the President.

Dr Rouhani also went on to say: "We need strong belief, management and equipment in the battlefield".

He added: "Defence industry's equipment manufacturers are carrying the main responsibility of our country's deterrent power".

We are grateful to the defence minister, managers, engineers and workers of the defence industry, said the President adding: "We are proud of the commander in chief, all armed forces, IRGC and Basij".

"We have a supreme leader who has been in the forefront of jihad and resistance from the first day," said Rouhani, "Those who did not attend the war, do not know how important our defensive achievements are".

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said: "Those who have attended the war understand the value of the work done by our defence industry and the armed forces better than anyone".

We all are chiefly responsible to reinforce our defence industry, the President said, adding: "We have spared no effort in helping the defence industry".

The defence budget has increased 77 per cent in the 11th government, said Rouhani adding: "The defence capabilities' budget has increased by 146 per cent".

Mentioning the government's efforts in the field of defence, he said: "The portion allocated to defence in the government's budget has increased to 9%. We have had 227% growth in exporting defence products".

He continued: "The delivery of S-300 to Iran is an honour for the government".

Emphasising that Iran's defensive power is deterrent but it is not against any country, he said: "We will not ask for anybody's permission for manufacturing missiles and fighter jets".

The great work of the defence ministry must continue with more interaction with universities, continued the President, adding: "The private sector must work closely with the Ministry of Defence in manufacturing parts for the defence industry".
