“If government can hold PSL final in Lahore by making foolproof security arrangements, then holding of mourning congregations and processions is also possible,” he said in a statement issued by SUC media wing, in Lahore.
Shia Ulema Council leader denounced the relevant authorities for banning mourning congregations in Punjab. He asserted that Shia Muslims of Pakistan would not accept any sort of restriction on their inalienable right to hold mourning ceremonies, let alone the ban on it.
He said that SUC chief Allama Sajid Naqvi had earlier made it clear that there would be no compromise on mourning ceremonies.
He asked if the state authorities would close down military headquarters GHQ, police headquarters, commercial markets, shrines of saints, educational institutions because of attacks on them.
He said action against terrorists was needed to remove the terror threats and restricting the victims of terrorism was not a solution to security flaws but government need to improve its security arrangements and eliminate terrorist networks instead of diverting pressure on the victims of terrorism.
