A book titled 'Nuclear Fatwa, Legal Status and its Credibility' about Iran's Supreme Leader's religious order (Fatwa) on prohibition of developing nuclear weapons in the country was recently published by a US publisher.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The book was written by Jaber Sivanizad, an Iranian university student, in 2014.

In a preface to the book, Sivanizad said that his book provides readers with an international legal analyses regarding considerations highlighted in the Fatwa.

It is an analytical look at Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s nuclear Fatwa which was originally issued by Ayatollah Khamenei in mid-1990.

The religious order forbids the acquisition, development and use of nuclear weapons based on Islamic teachings and stresses that the Islamic Republic of Iran shall never acquire these weapons.

However, its first public announcement is reported to have occurred on October 2003, which was followed by an official statement at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna two years later on August 2005.

Writer sivanizad said he has written the book to elucidating capacities of the Fatwa in its conformity to the international regulations on nuclear weapons including the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The analyses included in the book can serve as a model for a more correct understanding of international regulations in this respect and conformity of the Leader’s Fatwa to all international regulations pertaining to nuclear weapons.
