(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A fire swept through a mosque in Tunisia earlier this week, destroying part of the building and burning carpets and prayer rugs.
According to Anba Tunis news website, 111 copies of the Holy Quran were also burned in the fire at the grand mosque in Bizerte.
Khamis bin Ali, director of the region’s civil protection department said that the fire department and other emergency organizations managed to put out the fire in a short period of time.
He said cause of the fire is not known but the civil protection department is committed to launching an investigation into the incident to find out what exactly caused the incident.
Located 65 km north of the capital Tunis, Bizerte is a town of Bizerte Governorate in Tunisia and the northernmost city in Africa.
