IEUS condemns Bahrain’s execution of three young Shia activists

The Islamic European Union of Shia Scholars and Theologians (IEUS) strongly condemned the recent execution of three young Shia activists in Bahrain.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Islamic European Union of Shia Scholars and Theologians (IEUS) strongly condemned the recent execution of three young Shia activists in Bahrain.

In a statement, the IEUS denounced the move by the Manama regime on behalf of European Muslims and extended condolences to the families of the three and the people of Bahrain.

It underlined that the regime will fail to achieve its ignoble objectives through killing innocent youths and jailing the pious elderly or sending them into exile.

The union said a regime that has set a record in terms of revoking its nationals’ citizenship cannot be expected anything more but urged international bodies not to remain silent over such crimes.

Last week, the ruling Al Khalifa regime executed three anti-regime activists over their alleged role in a 2014 bomb attack, amid widespread public anger against the death verdicts.

Manama carried out the death verdicts in defiance of ongoing protest rallies across the kingdom.

On January 9, Bahrain’s Court of Cassation upheld the death penalties given to Sami Mushaima, Abbas Jamil Tahir al-Sami’ and Ali Abdulshahid al-Singace over allegations of killing a member of Emirati forces who had been assisting Manama in its suppression of Bahraini protesters in the northern village of al-Daih back in March 2014. Seven other convicts have also been sentenced to life in prison in the case.

The defendants had denied the charges.
