(AhlulBayt News Agency) - 67000 Moroccan women who didn't know how to read and write took part in a literary program in mosques across the country.
After learning how to read and write in the three-month intensive program held by the country’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry, the women together wrote a copy of the Quran.
At the end of the program, each of them wrote one word of the Holy Book in Othmani style of Arabic writing.
After the entire Quran was written by them, another group of women with artistic skills illuminated and decorated the copy with green and red colors.
Morocco’s Awqaf Ministry has gifted the copy, whose style is based on Morocco’s National Mus'haf, to the king of the country.
Morocco is a country located in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Islam is the largest religion in the country, with more than 99 percent of the population adhering to it. The vast majority of Muslims in Morocco are Sunni belonging to the Maliki school of jurisprudence.
