(AhlulBayt News Agency) - 'We will hopefully witness the end of violence and extremism in the Islamic states and Muslim nations would move towards peace, tranquility and brotherhood adhering to the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) excellent teachings,' Jahangiri said in the message.
Sunni Muslims observe the Holy Prophet's (also known as Mohammed or Muhammad) birthday on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi' al-awwal, while Shi'a Muslims mark it on the 17th of this month which falls on December 17 this year.
To fill the 5-day gap between the two dates of the Holy Prophet's birthday anniversary, the occasion is celebrated in Iran during the Hafteye Vahdat (Week of Unity) ceremonies by both Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
