(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The day of Arbaeen is marked all over the world in remembrance of Imam husain (a.s) and the martyrs of Karbala who sacrificed their lives fighting for truth, humanity and justice.

The Students of Aligarh Muslim University and the local residents of Aligarh City marked arbaeen by carrying out mourning processions and marching in solidarity with the oppressed people all over the world.

The university campus echoed with the chants of Labbaik ya Husain (We are at your service O Husain) as the mourners paid tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. A large number of students both male and female participated in a very well organised procession in which the participants propagated the Islamic teachings and values with the help of placards and banners.

The message of peace and humanity were propagated in a very attractive manner with the students carrying placards having photos and quotes of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Rabindranth Tagore about Imam Husain. One playcard had a qoute of Mahatma Gandhi on it which read, “I learnt from Imam Husain(a.s) how to achieve victory while being oppressed” The students were also carrying the photos and quotes of the leaders of Islamic Ummah Ayatullah Khomeini, Ayatullah Sistani and Ayatullah Khamenei. The students also raised slogans condemning oppression and terrorism of all kind all over the globe.

"It is mentioned in the Quran that if a person kills a human being then it is as if he has killed the whole humanity and if a person saves the life of one human being then it is as if he has saved the whole humanity. Islam teaches peace and humanity. we are here to present the true Islamic values in the society" said a volunteer.

The girls present in the procession propagated the Islamic concept of Hijab by telling the world that it is a pious concept which protects women and it is their own choice to practice it and is in no way oppression. A girl in the procession quoted, “ everyone has a right to wear what they like and Hijab is my way of dressing up and I really love it and feel proud and honoured to practice it”.
