Leading Kashmiri Shia cleric remembers Jammu massacre victims

In a statement, paying rich tributes to the victims of Jammu massacre on their anniversary he said that more than two lakh Muslims were butchered by Hindu extremists in Jammu in November 1947.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - President Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian and senior Hurriyat leader Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi Alsafvi while expressing tribute to Aga Syed Mehdi Almosvi Alsafvi on his death anniversary has condemned the government action for sealing Central Imambara Budgam for consecutive 17 Friday.

The notable Shiite cleric said that from past 17 Friday’s people were barred to offer Friday prayers which according to him is the direct interference of government in religious affairs.

In a statement, paying rich tributes to the victims of Jammu massacre on their anniversary he said that more than two lakh Muslims were butchered by Hindu extremists in Jammu in November 1947.

“This Muslim massacre chapter has been written in black letters in the annals of history. The massacre of Jammu Muslims was carried out to change the demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir State,” he said.

Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi Alsafvi expressed concern over burning of school buildings in Kashmir. He said the successive events of burning of schools are a conspiracy of stigmatizing to the ongoing freedom movement struggle.

“School buildings are our national assets and to destroy them is to destroy Kashmir. The arson incidents will leave negative impact on current freedom struggle,” he said.

He expressed anguish over the arrest spree and booking of youth under draconian Public Safety Act. “Such measures will not break the resolve of Kashmiri freedom loving people,” he said.
