(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Some 80,000 copies of the Holy Quran were distributed among Muslim institutions in Tanzania.
The Qatari charity foundation, Raf, handed out the Qurans as part of a project named Tibyan, al-Arab newspaper reported.
A number of Islamic societies, institutes and organizations in the East African country received the gifted copies in a ceremony held in cooperation with Tanzania Islamic Institute.
According to the foundation’s officials, the move is aimed at promoting the Quranic teachings and raising a generation of Quran memorizers.
It has so far distributed over 1.2 million copies of the Quran along with translations in 6 languages in several African, Asian and European countries.
Uganda, Gambia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the Philippines, Niger, Mali and Kenya are among the countries that have so far received the Qurans.
