Kashmiri Shia Muslims held impressive procession on 7th Muharram

On the occasion of 7th Muharram an impressive procession was taken out in Kashmir on Saturday.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - An impressive procession was taken out in Kashmir on Saturday by Shia Muslims on the occasion of seventh Muharram.

The procession started from the residence of Late Syed Mazhar Ali Shah under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu to pay tributes to Shehzada Qasim one of the Martyrs of Karbala.

A Majlis (mourning ceremony) was organized before the procession which was addressed by Maulana Mohd Abbas Rizvi.

In his address, Maulana stressed upon the teachings of Prophet Mohammad and also highlighted the great sacrifice of Shehzada Qasim for the sake of truth. He further added that Karbala taught us how to be victorious while you are oppressed.

During the procession mourners were reciting Nohas and Marsiahs (elegies) to pay tribute to Shehzada Qasim. At Imam Bargah New Plots the mourners offered Maghrib prayer and a Majlis was also organized by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plots which was addressed by Maulana Syed Abid Hussain Shah of Poonch. Maulana in his address said that we should follow the path of Imam Hussain. He added that Karbala is not mere a battle, it’s a fight against the tyranny, cruelty and oppression of Yazeed.

The procession passed through the traditional route New Plot, Ambphalla road, Ustad Mohalla, Panjtirthi, Jain Bazaar, Khatikan Talab and culminated at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.

President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Syed Amanat Ali Shah while addressing the media said that Karbala is thought that cannot be deceived. He added that every scholar and historian mentioned this sacrifice of Imam Hussain and his 72 companions as one of the greatest sacrifices of the centuries. He further added that Imam Hussain taught us all how to stand up and resist cruelty and oppression.

Prof. Sujat Khan secretary Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said that we are highly thankful to the people from different regions like Rajouri, Poonch, Surankote, Chanderkot, Gursai, Kashmir, Kargil and Ladakh and organizations like Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plots, Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi, ALMSAJ, AKSAJ and Shaheed Mutahri Library New Plots and People of different faiths who have participated in the procession to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (a.s) and all the martyrs of Karbala.

He further added that we are highly thankful to our Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for showing concern regarding arrangements of Muharram and complimented Minister for CAPD Choudhary Zulfkar Ali for convening a review meeting for assessing the arrangements of Muharram.
