(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Deepening and developing relations with African countries, including Kenya is a key foreign policy principle for Iran and Tehran welcomes development of Tehran-Nairobi ties, said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Speaker of Kenya’s National Assembly on Sunday in Tehran.
“Kenya is one of Iran’s friend countries in Africa and the post-JCPOA and post-sanctions opportunity has further cleared the path for development of ties between the two countries more than before,” said President Rouhani.
Mentioning Iran’s capabilities in technical and engineering fields, Dr Rouhani said: “The Kenyan government can provide the required facilities for Iranian private sector’s activities in Kenya”.
He also stressed that academic, scientific and technology centres of both countries should have more close cooperation, adding: “Parliaments and fostering interaction between the two nations can further cement ties between the two countries”.
On terrorism, President Rouhani said: “Iran and Kenya can cooperate at regional and international levels on this issue”.
Justin Muturi, the Speaker of Kenya’s National Assembly also said in this meeting that Kenya is ready to develop and deepen ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields, including the implementation of JCPOA".
“We will provide Iranian companies with the required facilities and conditions to operate in Kenya,” he added.
