Lack of Quran Translations in Zimbabwe

A Zimbabwean Mufti said there are not enough Quran translations in English for Muslims in the African country.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A Zimbabwean Mufti said there are not enough Quran translations in English for Muslims in the African country.

Muhammad Aslam said there are some 400,000 Muslims in Zimbabwe but copies of Quran translations in English are not enough, al-Aluka website reported.

He said some Muslims have to walk some 10 kilometers to reach the nearest mosque and read the Quran, if there are any copies in the mosque.

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa.

English, Shona and Ndebele are the most widely spoken languages in the country.

The arrival of Islam in Zimbabwe dates to the fourth Hijri century (11th century A.D.) when Muslims established emirates on the coast of East Africa.
