Imam Hussein holy shrine sponsors Sunni-Shia Iftar dinner in Senegal

In collaboration with Senegal-based al-Azhar Foundation, the International Media of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has organized an iftar dinner during Ramadan month joining Shias and Sunnis in the capital city of Dakar.

AhlulBayt News Agency - In collaboration with Senegal-based al-Azhar Foundation, the International Media of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine has organized an iftar dinner during Ramadan month joining Shias and Sunnis in the capital city of Dakar.

Chairperson of Meftah al-Bashar Sufi Association, Sheikh Ahmed Mubaki, stated, “We truly thank the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein for this great initiative that aims to unite Muslims under one umbrella, unlike what extremist groups are striving to do. Every Muslim must follow this unifying path, as it is the key solution to many recurring conflicts around the world.”

“We aspire for more alike joint initiatives from the International Media of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine that strengthen the bonds between Muslims,” added Mubaki.

From his part, the International Media’s advisor in Senegal, Mustafa Diba confirmed, “The iftar dinner witnessed a great crowd of prominent Senegalese Sunni Sheikhs and Shias residents who sat side-by-side and gave positive feedback of this great endeavor.”

 

Over 98% of the 15 million population in the West African country are Muslims.
