AhlulBayt News Agency - The Islamic Society of Wichita in the US State of Kansas has invited the public to come and learn about Ramadan and the Muslim religion at a free Iftar dinner Monday evening.
Because it is currently the holy month of Ramadan – which includes dawn to dusk fasting – the event will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the gym at the Islamic Society of Wichita.
Mahmood Karim, one of the coordinators of the dinner, said Ramadan is an important time to reflect and to grow.
"The significance of Ramadan is to give patience and to also teach you how to share with the needy people,” Karim said. "You have fasting from sunrise to sunset, and you give up the desire for anything the material world offers you.”
The event is free and open to the public. Karim said he wants to invite all people, not just Muslims, to come and learn about the Islamic faith and traditions.
