Ayatollah Sobhani: Wars, consequence of impiety

Stressing that religion is the source of unity among people, Ayatollah Sobhani said, "It's been proved throughout the course of history that wars are ignited by the impious front, they are generated by those egocentric ones who do not believe in God or religion."

AhlulBayt News Agency - Stressing that religion is the source of unity among people, Ayatollah Sobhani said, "It's been proved throughout the course of history that wars are ignited by the impious front, they are generated by those egocentric ones who do not believe in God or religion."

The senior Shia cleric in Qom went on to elaborate on a general misgiving that religions have been the cause of wars and disputes among nations, therefore as some people claim we must omit religious beliefs, he asserted, "The origin of this misgiving about the role of religion is rooted in Lenin's doctrine and generally speaking Marxism."

"Those who follow Marxism have brought up this issue that religion is the source of wars and disputes around the world, therefore people must be indifferent towards religion."

He continued, "Moreover, followers of Marxism believe that 'Human ownership' causes disputes so all people must accept the Communist doctrine."

The grand jurist further said, "Marxists later claimed that Money and wealth is the main cause of human wars and later they even considered beautiful women as the reason of disputes among people, but failed to announce the latter publicly."

Criticizing Marxists for their denial of the benefits of religion for societies, Ayatollah added, "Primarily, religion brings about the sense of security to the nations since it applies certain rules to societies,"
"The faithful are honest and trustworthy whereas the impious are inclined to disloyalty and treason," he said.

Questioning why some people do not look at religion with an intrinsic point of view, he said," If religion is deeply innate and part of our conscious, how are we to deprive ourselves of this natural instinct? Doesn't it mean we are forgetting ourselves?

Reiterating that religion facilitates scientific developments, Ayatollah Sobhani added," Religion believes this universe is a creation of One great, all-knowing, wise and almighty God and therefore, God has created this universe for a reason, it is our duty to discover the rules of this world. If we do not believe in God, then why would we bother to discover the universe's rules and mysteries when we're not sure there's order in this life?"

The prominent Quran interpreter further said, "according to the above-mentioned fact, everyone who is carrying out research projects in this world is a believer of God; almighty God has created this universe and it's us who must unfold its orders and mysteries."

Highlighting the unifying rule of religion among people, the source of emulation remarked, "It's been well-approved throughout history that wars are initiated by the unfaithful, they are caused by those egoist ones who do not believe in God or religion."

The grand Ayatollah then referred to wars as consequence of infidelity among nations, "If societies adhere to religious conduct, educate their citizens according to religious teachings and fear God, they would never engage in bloodshed and killing of their fellow kinds."

Saying that disputes would diminish if people believed in the final Judgment Day, Ayatollah Sobhani said, "Imam Khomeini (RA) once had mentioned, "disputes and wars which come between us are not due to God, since if they were due to him we would never argue with each other and we'd all appreciate our own boundaries."

Maintaining that past experiences have disproved the validity of Leninism Doctrine, Shia cleric concluded, "after 80 years of practicing their administration and government, now they have realized that atheism cannot lead to development of a country, it further became obvious that humankind need religion and people's legitimate ownership must be respected."
