NO PLACE FOR VIOLENCE IN PURE ISLAM
American Muslim Congress condemns the senseless killings of innocent victims of the massacre in Orlando last night and sends condolences to the families of the victims. There is no justification in Islam for shooting and killing of innocent people.
Such incidents bring up contentious issues such as gun control, intolerance of the other, double standards in foreign policy and a media that thrives on promoting violence.
Muslim Congress continues to advocate for peace and justice and the rule of law whereby everyone is treated with equity and tolerance, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or religion.
In this holy month of Ramadhan we pray for the implementation of peace and security at home and abroad for all the humans.
A gunman armed with an assault rifle killed 50 people at a crowded nightclub in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, the worst mass shooting in US history.
About 53 other people were injured in the shooting, which took place after midnight in the Pulse Club.
The gunman, identified by US media as an alleged Daesh sympathizer named Omar Mateen, took hostages at the club and barricaded himself in the complex but was later killed by specially trained SWAT units.
