Iranian Tawasheeh Group to Perform Programs in Thailand

An Iranian Tawasheeh (religious songs) group will be dispatched to Thailand to perform Tawasheeh programs there.

AhlulBayt News Agency - An Iranian Tawasheeh (religious songs) group will be dispatched to Thailand to perform Tawasheeh programs there.

According to Mohammad Reza Zeinali, Iranian cultural attaché in Thailand, the Taha Tawasheeh group will be in the South East Asian country in the second half of the holy month of Ramadan.

Members of the group will also recite verses from the Holy Quran during their programs at Shia and Sunni mosques and Islamic centers, he said.

The Taha group won the top rank in Iran’s 20th Tawasheeh and Choral Recitation competition earlier this year.

As for the Iranian cultural center’s other programs for the holy month, Zeinali said it plans special programs during the nights of Qadr and will also hold Iftar (fast breaking) dinner.

The annual fasting month of Ramadan on the Islamic lunar calendar began on Monday in several countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, where the crescent moon has been sighted.

The month began in other Muslim countries such as Iran on Tuesday.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast as an effective way of practicing self-discipline. They are also expected to strengthen their character through self-restraint, charitable-giving and introspection.
